Japan Autumn

This November we are going to Japan. It will be our first trip to Japan and we were looking forward to visiting the country.

Route for this 16 day trip
In April 2011 we had to cancel our trip to Japan because of the Japan Tsunami disaster. There after there were many stories about the nuclear radiation health hazard. This year, 2013 after many uncertainties we decided that we will visit Japan in the Autumn season.

I drew up a travelling plan for 16 days in Japan starting in Tokyo travelling south all the way to Kyoto and then looping back to tokyo. I have planned to hit the koyo (autumn) destinations at the peak of their autumn color.

Autumn Timing for different regions of Japan
Autumn color lasted about two to three months. It started from the north and at higher elevation before moving to the south and lower elevation. The best time to view autumn leaves for a destination would be at the middle of its koyo season. Too early in the season the colors of the leaves have not turned vibrantly yellow or red too late in the season most leaves have dropped to the ground.
